Judges 6
The Name
When the angel of the Lord appeared to Gideon under the oak at Ophrah, Gideon brought an offering of meat and unleavened bread, and the angel told him to set it on a rock. The angel touched the offering with the tip of his staff, and fire sprang up from the rock and consumed it (Judges 6:21). Afterward, Gideon built an altar there and named it “The Lord Is Peace” (Judges 6:24). Later, Gideon laid out a fleece of wool, and God answered him twice: first with dew on the fleece alone, then with the fleece alone left dry (Judges 6:36–40).
